RGD uses the Human Disease Ontology (DO, for disease curation across species. RGD automatically downloads each new release of the ontology on a monthly basis. Some additional terms which are required for RGD's curation purposes but are not currently covered in the official version of DO have been added. As corresponding terms are added to DO, these custom terms are retired and the DO terms substituted in existing annotations and subsequently used for curation.

Definition:An extrapulmonary tuberculosis that results_in lymphocyte-predominant exudative pleural effusion, located_in pleura. This results from an allergic response to tuberculoprotein causing the permeabiltity of the pleural vasculature to alter leading to a sub-pleural caseous focus rupture into the pleural sac. (DO)
Synonyms:exact_synonym: Pearly disease;   Pleural Tuberculoses;   Tuberculous Pleurisies;   Tuberculous Pleurisy;   tuberculosis of pleura;   tuberculous pleurisy in primary progressive tuberculosis;   tuberculous pleuritis

 xref: ICD10CM:A15.6;   ICD9CM:010.1;   ICD9CM:012.0;   NCI:C26898
