CLINICAL MEASUREMENT - ANNOTATIONS

The Clinical Measurement Ontology (CMO), Measurement Methods Ontology (MMO), and Experimental Condition Ontology (XCO) are currently being developed at the Rat Genome Database. For more information about these vocabularies please see Shimoyama et al. Three ontologies to define phenotype measurement data. Front Genet. 2012;3:87. Definition:A measurement of the extent of a plane through, that is, perpendicular to the axis of, a cardiac myocyte, striated muscle cells that are responsible for heart contraction. In mammals, the contractile fiber resembles those of skeletal muscle but are only one third as large in diameter, are richer in sarcoplasm, and contain centrally located instead of peripheral nuclei.
Synonyms:exact_synonym: cardiac fiber cross-sectional area;   cardiac muscle fiber cross-sectional area;   cardiomyocyte cross-sectional area;   heart muscle cell cross-sectional area;   striated cardiac muscle cell cross-sectional area
