Definition:A calculated measurement in which the amount of hemoglobin A1c (hemoglobin glycosylated as a result of the nonenzymatic attachment of a glucose/hexose moiety) in a specified sample of blood is divided by the amount of total hemoglobin in that same sample, and the result presented as a ratio, fraction, quotient or percentage.
