Any value resulting from the quantification of a morphological or physiological parameter related to tumors of the head and neck, a group of biologically similar cancers that start in the lip, oral cavity, nasal cavity, paranasal sinuses, pharynx, and/or larynx. A tumor is an abnormal growth of tissue resulting from uncontrolled, progressive multiplication of cells and serving no physiological function.
Comment:
Note that "tumors of the head and neck" or "cancers of the head and neck" refers to a specific group of neoplasms, not just to any tumor located anywhere in the head or neck of an individual. According to the National Cancer Institute "Cancers of the brain, the eye, the esophagus, and the thyroid gland, as well as those of the scalp, skin, muscles, and bones of the head and neck, are not usually classified as head and neck cancers".
