The amount of ezymatic activity of lactate dehydrogenase (LDH) in a specified volume of plasma. LDH is the enzyme which catalyses the reaction S)-lactate + NAD(+) <=> pyruvate + NADH. Plasma LDH level can be used as a marker for tissue damage.
