Measurement of the weight or heaviness of the liver, that is, the degree to which it is drawn toward the earth by gravity. The liver is the large abdominal organ/gland which functions in the storage and filtration of blood, secretion of bile, detoxification of noxious substances, synthesis and storage of glycogen, synthesis and breakdown of fats and temporary storage of fatty acids, and synthesis of serum proteins.
