A BODIPY dye in which the 4,4-difluoro-4-bora-3a,4a-diaza-s-indacene skeleton is substituted at positions 1, 3, 5, 7, and 8 by methyl groups. It is used as a stain for neutral lipds and as a tracer for oil and other nonpolar lipids.
