RGD Definition

"Sequences in RGD are limited to nucleotide sequence data at the current time and include oligo sequences, SSLP and EST clone sequences and RefSeq nucleotide entries for Gene records. Protein (amino acid) sequence data is not currently being stored within RGD though many genes have the appropriate protein accession numbers listed."

We are currently expanding our sequence data and enhancing its representation in the database to prepare for the genomic sequence. As this expansion proceeds, we will be aiming to have sequence data for as many genes and markers as possible.

Finding Sequence information

1. Using the General Search

The general RGD search available at the top of each page is a quick route to finding Sequences. This will search sequence accession numbers and aliases only. (See General RGD Search help for more information).

2. Using the Sequence Search Form

The sequence search form currently searches the sequence symbol (GenBank accession number), however, as more sequence data is entered into RGD this will be expanded to provide more comprehensive search functions.

Quick Guide

  1. Enter a sequence accession number or RGD IDs ('*' can be used as a wild card character)
  2. Click 'Search for Sequence' button.

Related Information/Links

Sequence records provide access to a variety of associated objects within RGD. Primer and clone sequences are linked to their parent object (e.g. a SSLP or Gene record), links are provided to GenBank to view the original sequence record. Mapping data will link out to the appropriate maps and map regions.

The Sequence Report

The following fields are present on the sequence report:

RGD: Sequence Report Help

Parent

Link to the primary object in RGD for which this is a sequence entry

Sequence Type

EST, cDNA, mRNA, etc.

Clone Name

GenBank accession number for this sequence

Sequence

The actual nucleotide sequence listed 5' to 3'. Total length in bp is shown.

External Database Links

Links to other databases which have information about this sequence. The links are grouped by parent database and each link has a user-friendly text (e.g. PubMed citation, LocusLink gene symbol, etc.) followed in parentheses by the actual accession number used in the parent database (PubMed ID, LocusLink number).

Curated References

References curated by the RGD curation team that contain information pertaining to this sequence.
