strain_anatomy lx, polydactyly-luxate, autosomal recessive, LG VII. The anomaly affects the distal extremities of the hindlegs producing supernumerary digits, predominantly six toes, and a low incidence of mild zeugopodium malformation (2). The expression is variable and strongly influenced by the genetic backround as evidenced by polydactyly-luxate congenic strains: Lew-lx, hindfeet with 7 toes, ? 10% luxation, BP-lx and BN-lx with fore- and hindfoot polydactyly with 6 toes, 100% luxation. BN was further exceptional by expressing the defect as an incomplete dominant trait (3). Application of teratogens increases the expressivity of the lx allele (1). Polydactyly-luxate is independent of the Dpl-syndrome. 1004
