GENE - CHEMICAL INTERACTIONS REPORT

RGD ID: 620640
Species: Rattus norvegicus
RGD Object: Gene
Symbol: Cyp2d4
Name: cytochrome P450, family 2, subfamily d, polypeptide 4
Acc ID: CHEBI:9648
Term: tramadol
Definition: A racemate consisting of equal amounts of (R,R)- and (S,S)-tramadol. A centrally acting synthetic opioid analgesic, used (as the hydrochloride salt) to treat moderately severe pain. The (R,R)-enantiomer exhibits ten-fold higher analgesic potency than the (S,S)-enantiomer. Originally developed by Gruenenthal GmbH and launched in 1977, it was subsequently isolated from the root bark of the South African tree Nauclea latifolia.
Chemical ID: MESH:D014147
Note: Use of the qualifier "multiple interactions" designates that the annotated interaction is comprised of a complex set of reactions and/or regulatory events, possibly involving additional chemicals and/or gene products.
